In this interactive workshop, we invite international educators to step into A Bridge to Inclusion, an innovative board game designed to foster collaboration, empathy, and practical solutions for building inclusive school communities. Much like Snakes and Ladders, this game takes participants through real-world scenarios, challenges, and opportunities to reflect on their school’s policies, vision, and practices for inclusivity.
Teams, each representing a unique school, will navigate obstacles and explore strategies to create a culture of belonging through lively discussions, shared insights, and quick decision-making. Together, participants will examine key elements like structural diversity, emotional safety, and school culture, while drawing from each other’s experiences to craft actionable takeaways for their own institutions.
Join us me roll the dice, engage in rich conversation, and gain new perspectives on the path toward a truly inclusive school!

On January 19th, 2021, Mauricio Arévalo, a Colombian teacher and writer, received a call he had been waiting for nearly two years. A three-month-old baby had been assigned to his family through an adoption process, and he was about to become a father. Immediately after. Mauricio and his husband gathered with their families and friends to prepare for welcoming their new family member. The countdown to the "Encuentro" —the first time families meet during adoption processes— began, and with it came the expectations of becoming a new family. However, they did not anticipate the label that would soon become part of their lives and accompany them in every step they were about to take.
Join Mauricio in his parenthood testimony, where he reflects on how becoming a father has challenged his identity, transformed his misconceptions about families, and redefined his notions of pride and love.
¿Qué significa ser latinoamericano?
This is an inquiry workshop where Secondary students explore what it means to be Latin American through an analysis of the renowned song 'Latinoamérica' by Calle 13. The workshop is part of the Spanish B curriculum's Identidades (Identities) unit. It aims to deepen students' understanding of identity within both the program and as IB learners.
This is a workshop that explores family diversity for our youngest learners. Through guided questions, students draw pictures of their families while reflecting on their unique characteristics, shared symbols, and the elements that unite them as a community. Inspired by the writing process of 'Un álbum familiar (A Family Album)', the workshop typically concludes with a read-aloud session of the book.
