I am honored to have received a Center for African Studies (UF) Pre-dissertation award. This award allows pre-dissertation funding for travel, research, training, etc. My advisor has assisted me in finding opportunities in Senegal. I planned to go there at the end of this summer, but due to COVID will be postponing to this fall or next spring.
While in Senegal, I will be practicing French and doing training related to my dissertation and future field-work. Specifically, I will be meeting with experts in Senegal who are conducting research on violence, food security, pastoralism, and migration. I hope to be based in the West Africa Research Center, which has an affiliation with the University of Florida.
