My OECD/SWAC paper (West African Papers) - Pastoralist Violence in North & West Africa - has just been released. Thank you sincerely to my advisor - Dr. Olivier Walther - and OECD/SWAC for supporting this project and agreeing to publish it! Also thanks to my lovely wife - Dr. Charis Li - for reading through drafts and advice about methodology and data analysis.
I recently presented my research for the OECD project on pastoralist violence in North and West Africa for the weekly Geography Department colloquium at the University of Florida. I shared the background, methods, data, and preliminary findings of the research to about 50 people and those viewing the YouTube stream online. I am really grateful to everybody who attended. More information.
I was privileged and honored to receive full funding and scholarship to study Hausa (Beginner) this summer through AFLI/FLAS. This program is an intensive 8-week course, taught 4-7 hours/day, with homework, conversation, quizzes, exams, and language proficiency training. By the end, I should be competent at an intermediate level. I am very grateful to IIE, UF CAS, and other sources for receiving this invaluable training.
