Pain is a major public health problem. 1 in 4 Americans suffers with persistent pain. Ongoing studies are helping us to identify parts of everyday life that can increase and decrease pain. The purpose of all of the research in our lab is to eventually decrease suffering from pain.
The study visit will involve pain testing and surveys lasting 3 – 3.5 hours.
You will be compensated $25/hour (approximately $75– $85 total) for your time.

This study is designed to better understand how cultural, religious, and family values shape how South Asian adults interpret, narrate, and manage chronic pain. Information from eligible participants will help us design interviews and improve culturally sensitive pain research. We are recruiting adults who identify as South Asian, live in Texas, and have experienced chronic pain (pain lasting six months or longer). You must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
This study involves an online questionnaire and a one-time 60-minute interview on Zoom. For your time and effort, we will pay you a $25 Amazon gift card.

This qualitative study seeks to explore how community members and community leaders in Brazos County understand and experience chronic pain, health care access, coping strategies, stigma, and community-level solutions. Participants will complete a short demographic questionnaire and participate in a 90-minute in-person focus group held at the Bryan + College Station Public Library in a private meeting room. Sessions will be audio recorded and transcribed for analysis. Participants will receive a $50 Amazon or HEB gift card for their time.
