The Vocabulary Basics
Sum - The result of adding two or more numbers.
Addend - Any of the numbers that are added together.
Difference - The result of subtracting one number from another. How much one number differs from another.
Product - The answer when two or more numbers are multiplied together.
Factor - Factors are numbers we can multiply together to get another number.
Multiple - The result of multiplying a number by an integer (not by a fraction).
Quotient - The answer after we divide one number by another.
Divisor - The number we divide by.
Dividend - The amount that you want to divide up. (dividend Ă· divisor = quotient)
Repeating Decimal - A decimal number with digits that repeat forever. It's also called a recurring decimal.
Terminating Decimal - A decimal number that has digits that do not go on forever. Terminating decimals stop.
