How to Contact Me

I am here to answer your questions and support your success in this course. The best way to get your questions answered is to ask them during class! I know that can be intimidating at times, but I guarantee that if you have a question, you are not the only one - you're just the only one brave enough to speak up!

If you have a personal issue that you wish to discuss with me, I prefer that we chat before or after class.

For lengthier issues or for questions that occur outside of class meetings, you can email me at abrown@santarosa.edu, drop by any of my office hours, or post your question in our Canvas General Course Q&A Discussion Forum.

I strive to respond to emails within 1-2 school days. If you do not hear back from me within that time, please feel free to email me again!

How to Get Help on Homework Questions

• I am available to help you with homework questions during my office hours and we may also have time for homework questions during our Math 215 classtime.

• Our class PALS (teaching assistant) this semester is K.D. McComb. K.D. took Math 15 and Math 215 with me in Fall 2022 and was my PALS during Spring 2023. She will be available to answer your questions in class and will hold additional office hours to help you learn Statistics. Please feel free to ask her for help! You can email her at thedancingmama@gmail.com.

• Post your questions in our Math 15 Canvas Discussion Forum. Your question will be seen by your peers and if anyone has the answer, by all means, answer it! You can also upload images and screen shots to help each other. I will also monitor the questions in the discussion forum and will answer them during my office hours, as time permits.

• Take advantage of SRJC's free Tutoring Services, which are located in the Petaluma Campus Mahoney Library Reading Room and in the first floor of the Santa Rosa Campus Doyle Library.

• There is also a Math Lab available in Kunde Hall, Room 153 on the Santa Rosa campus. 

• MyLab Statistics also has many built-in resources, including videos and step-by-step explanations on similar questions.

What You Can Expect From Me...

1. I will provide you with a clear, organized course that is designed to ensure you meet SRJC's Math 15 course outcomes in a meaningful manner. 

2. I will provide a variety of assignments to ensure your learning needs are met.

3. I will be actively present in your learning. It is my goal to help you learn the skills of this course to the best of your abilities.

4. I will provide a positive and supportive environment for you to share and discuss ideas with your peers. It is my goal to help you feel safe to ask questions and take on challenging material.

5. I will reach out to you when I sense that you need support.

6. I will treat you with dignity and respect. I understand that you are busy and that you have many competing priorities. When needed, I will be flexible to support your successful completion of this course.

7. I won't be perfect. I am human and will make mistakes at times. I will view mistakes as an opportunity to learn and grow.

What I Expect From You...

1. You will strive to be an active participant in this course and do your best to meet due dates.

2. You will establish a weekly study routine (expect about 15-20 hours per week) that gives you sufficient time to complete all assignments and prepare for quizzes and tests.

3. You will focus on understanding the concepts and performing the skills of this course, aiming for your own personal best.

4. When you have a math question, you will turn to the "human resources" of the course for help. The human resources include me (your instructor), your peers, and free on-campus tutoring. 

5. You will uphold academic integrity by submitting only work that you understand for yourself. 

6. You will treat your peers with dignity and respect. You will support your classmates as you share this learning space and time.

7. You will do your best to have patience with technology. There will be hiccups, expect them. We will get through them together.

8. You will give yourself grace. Expect to make mistakes, and do your best to view mistakes as learning opportunities.
