The popularity of residing in New York City and Philadelphia has decreased significantly these past few months. The Coronavirus, which began to impact the country in March, is only one factor. The effects of the pandemic combined with increased civil unrest and violence in these areas have made it easy for individuals and families to find a new place to call home. The new demand for homes in the Pocono Mountains region for example, is astronomical.
Many are now able to work remotely, so why not work away from the hustle and bustle of the city for more peace of mind?
Travel restrictions have also changed how people vacation. Many have looked to vacation destinations close to the city, instead of dealing with the hassle of flying domestically or internationally. Both the Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River and the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area have seen record visitation numbers this year because of the trend.
Homes in Masthope are selling DAYS after the listing hits the internet, so naturally property values have increased in the community. Houses are being sold left and right at prices much higher than what the house is even worth. In a few instances, some are even willing to pay over the already high listing price to beat out other prospective buyers.
On community Facebook groups, people ask about new potential properties that may hit the market soon on a daily basis. “Looking for a house in Masthope” is followed by the comment “Join the club!” in one group.
As of September 23, 2020 there are less than 15 homes/ lots listed in Masthope. Several others are “sale pending.”
The community is built out. And with nearly 1,800 homes, there are no plans to create additional lots, as the community already is starting to feel a bit crowded. This means that any existing properties are the only ones available in the community.
With a wide variety of recreational amenities to enjoy regardless of the season and with a brand new pool complex on the way, there’s no question as to why Masthope is the place to be in 2020.
