The summer weather may have come to a close, but it's time to start thinking all things Fall! Autumn is the perfect season for a weekend getaway in the mountains; and with the planning tools and recommendations outlined below, you'll create a visit filled with memories.
Leaf Peeping in Lackawaxen
"Leaf Peepers" rejoice! Thanks to the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, you'll know when the colors are at their best, thanks to their detailed Fall Foliage Forecast. Updated every Thursday through the end of October, this forecast will assist you on where, when and how to experience the brilliant foliage in our four-county region. The fall foliage report is also available by calling 570-421-5565.
Hiking at Tusten Mountain Trail
We've been exploring the local area for over a decade, so naturally we have some recommendations for things you should see and do when you're here! Check out our recently updated list on our website! You'll find everything from apple picking & axe throwing to our favorite hiking spots!
Hawk's Nest - NYS Route 97 Scenic Byway
A great way to explore the Northeast Pocono Mountains and The Upper Delaware Recreational River Area is by following a driving tour! On your journey, you'll see breathtaking views of farmland, rivers, lakes, forests, ponds and quaint towns. Driving tours are perfect for any season, especially autumn! Our tours vary in length, so pick the one that looks right for you! (Tour 3 is the longest, but my personal favorite. Stop in Narrowsburg for lunch and in Milford to shop & stroll!)
Riverside Cocktails at The Lackawaxen Inn
The pandemic has really taken a toll on our local businesses in the area, and let's face it... they're a huge reason as to why our region is quaint and unique! Now is the time to support our local shops and restaurants. Many restaurants are offering outdoor dining, which sounds perfect at this time of year! Grab drinks and apps at the Lackawaxen Inn, dine lakeside at Silver Birches, or check out the shops at the Hawley Silk Mill. Click here for our full list of restaurant recommendations.
Shohola Falls in Autumn
Every year, the region offers plenty of seasonal events and activities. Pick up some fresh produce, baked goods, or artisanal products at a farmers market, take in the scenery on a fall foliage train tour, support local filmmakers at the Black Bear Film Festival in Milford, or visit the new Halloween Light Show at Lakeland Orchard & Cidery!
