Renee Watson

Rene Watson was born in 1978 in Patterson, New Jersey, and she moved to Portland, Oregon at the age of three. She went to school in New York and now lives there where she writes and educates. She writes books about the African American experience. She typically leans towards themes of home and identity in her writing.  She has also taught creative writing and theater at many public schools. She loves using these creative outlets to help children work through hard life trials.
