I finished my digital citizenship training, and now I know what online dangers to look for, how to avoid them, and how to help my students avoid them.
From this training I learned:
Long, complicated passwords work best. In order to have a good password, you must use numbers, symbols, and both capital and lowercase letters.
Respect and kindness are super important when online. It is easy to misunderstand someone online because you are not face to face. Because of this we must be careful when communicated through a computer.
Knowing how to differentiate a fake website from a real website is very important. It will keep you safe from dangers, hackers, and false information.
I will use what I learned to keep my future students safe. I will make sure they understand the dangers of the internet and that they know how to avoid them.
I completed my ethics training. From this I learned how to morally and ethically live as a public servant.
From this training I learned:
There is a limit to how much money public servants can be given either in the form of gifts or actual money. Teachers can only be given up to $75 worth of gifts per student. Any more than that would be considered a bribe.
Public servants must be cautious when helping out relatives. Choosing a relative for a job over others or granting them things like licenses could be considered nepotism if done for the wrong reasons.
Ethically, a public servant cannot discuss their customers' information. Teachers, specifically, cannot share any information about their students at all.
I will keep everything I learned in mind to teach my students and run my classroom ethically.
I found three tech tools that will benefit my future students and classroom as a whole. These tools will make it easier to check for understanding, get lessons to my students stuck at home, and give the kids a fun alternative to normal homework and studying!
This week I created a google classroom. I learned hows simple it is to create an organzied space for students to easily fin their assignments. I will definitely be using google classroom with my future students!
