The inspiration for this came from reading about birds, particularly pigeons, being used for spying. This got me thinking, how in the bible, doves are seen as a presence of the holy spirit, something present everywhere simultaneously and always watching over you, which is an ancient form of surveillance. The lack of privacy can evoke feelings of shame. In Christianity, the Holy spirit protects you, just how it is claimed that government surveillance is for the good of the people. Being watched by a deity has a human element, as God offers you redemption. A surveillance camera does not offer you forgiveness. Fearing the government punishment parallels fearing punishment from God.
