Hi! I’m Mark Epstein — a Senior driven, creative, and people-focused individual navigating the intersection of music and business. As a double major in Marketing and Music at High Point University, I’ve learned how to combine performance with purpose—channeling creativity into strategy and using my communication skills to lead in both artistic and professional spaces.
Music has been a cornerstone of my identity since childhood, and it continues to shape the way I show up in every area of life. At HPU, I perform regularly with the Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble, where I’ve grown not only as a musician, but as a collaborator and leader. Whether I’m performing a J.J. Johnson ballad or driving lead bone, I bring intentionality, expression, and teamwork to the stage.
But my story doesn’t stop with music. I’m also deeply committed to career development and mentorship. Over the past three years, I’ve worked as a Peer Career Advisor in the Office of Career and Professional Development, where I help fellow students build résumés, strengthen their interviewing skills, and develop professional confidence. I’ve had the opportunity to facilitate one-on-one sessions, lead workshops, and support campus-wide career events—experiences that have shaped me into a more thoughtful listener, clearer communicator, and more strategic thinker. Being a Peer Career Advisor has taught me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about helping others discover their own. It’s also where I found my passion for empowering others to grow, not just professionally, but personally. Whether I’m helping someone prep for their first internship interview or organizing a success-planning session as Professional Development Chair for Alpha Epsilon Pi, I always aim to lead with empathy and purpose.
I view my time at HPU as more than just a college experience—it’s been a launchpad. It’s where I learned to speak with confidence, perform with conviction, and lead with integrity. And now, as I look ahead to the next steps in my career, I’m excited to keep building on this foundation—blending music, business, and mentorship into a life that’s both creative and impactful.
Let’s connect—whether it’s to collaborate on a project, discuss career growth, or share a love for jazz, marketing, or leadership.

Mission Statement (Updated November 2025)- My mission is to enrich the lives of those around me through passion, discipline, and service. I strive to lead not just through titles or recognition, but by example—showing up consistently, doing the work, and holding myself to a high standard in everything from performance to personal conduct, helping to encourage a stronger community through the interconnectivity of music and build meaningful relationships and connections.
Whether I’m on stage performing with an ensemble or in a meeting helping someone craft their resume, my goal is the same: to elevate the people around me. I believe that success is most meaningful when it’s shared, and I aim to build environments—musical, professional, and personal—where others feel inspired, valued, and empowered to grow. I’m committed to personal development, both in and outside the classroom, and I see professional growth as a lifelong process. My work in Career & Professional Development as a Peer Career Advisor has taught me that impact often starts in small, quiet moments—like helping someone find the right words for their first job application or encouraging a peer to take the next step toward their goals. It’s in those moments that I feel most aligned with my purpose.
Ultimately, I want to leave every organization, ensemble, or team I’m a part of better than I found it—by contributing with integrity, taking care of business behind the scenes, and helping others discover their own potential. Through music, mentorship, and meaningful leadership, I hope to make a lasting difference and be less of a struggle for others.

Stepping in as a substitute musician for the Sanford Community Orchestra was a meaningful artistic and professional milestone in my development. Performing alongside seasoned community musicians challenged me to adapt quickly, listen deeply, and match ensemble style with minimal rehearsal time—skills that are essential for any versatile performer. The experience strengthened my sight-reading, ensemble awareness, and musical responsiveness, while also exposing me to a broader network of local professionals and educators.
Beyond musicianship, this opportunity reinforced qualities that directly support my career path: reliability, professionalism, and the ability to contribute confidently in unfamiliar settings. Being trusted to fill an orchestral role on short notice demonstrated my preparedness and adaptability—traits that translate seamlessly into conducting, performance, and artistic leadership. Subbing for the Sanford Community Orchestra ultimately expanded both my artistic perspective and my professional readiness, making it a valuable step in my growth as a musician committed to serving and elevating community-based ensembles.
