Starts With Hello Week began with positive messages on every student locker.
The week continued when all 750+ of our students had name tags used to make new friends.
Kind words were spread when students were encouraged to pass a smile on.
Bathrooms were decorated over the summer with messages created to inspire.
One talented ELA teacher created a board where students were asked to take a message or leave a message.
One week in the beginning of the year dedicated to spreading kindness helps to build relationships and make students feel valued.
Time spent building relationships in the classroom leads to an environment were everyone feels safe.
Try to make three positive connections with each student every day.
Students who are valued will do more than expected.
Educating the whole student means working to develop productive members of society both academically and emotionally. Current research shows an increase in the self reported levels of stress our students are facing. As educators we must teach mindfulness and work to help students succeed.
