Growing up in Pasadena, I have always had a passion for acting and improv, and loved to perform in school and community events. I ran for winter carnival ambassador, performed on the improv team, school plays and even performed standup comedy! I have continued this passion into my own classrooms, starting English drama club in 3 Korean elementary schools.
Drama activities are where I feel most comfortable in uncovering hidden talents in my learners and coming to understand their individual identities. My practice with ESL learners has taught me that no matter the language or culture, learning style or motivation, drama activities and comedy has a universal appeal with children. It's about relationship building. I want each one of them to feel special and capable. I believe I can capture a small moment of who each of them is. And I can see some of who they can be. Learning disorder, developmental disability, behavioural challenge... it makes no difference. I see their greatest potential when I teach drama. And I want to help them see it in themselves.
