Community Placement Spring 2019
- Mentored by Todd Boland (Research Horticulturalist), Christine Gillard (Environmental Educator) and Tim Walsh (Nursery Manager)
- Worked with staff on grounds and nursery. Helped with preparation for season opening.
- Volunteered with the Friends of the Garden group of horticultural enthusiasts.
- Helped develop a holistic and inclusive view of diverse settings with educational components.
Recent Volunteer Experience
New Dimensions Child Care 10 Canada Dr., St. John's, NL (Summer 2019)
- Volunteered with Summer Program designing and implementing lessons by theme (ages 6-12)
- Accompanied children on field trip to Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium/Island rooms
St. Matthews School Grades 5-6 Drama Club
- After school drama and improv activities. Rehearsal for plays and performances. (2018-20)
Korean Animal Protection Society (KAPS) 2011-15
During my time in Korea I volunteered at the animal shelter. I was so grateful to the staff there for allowing me to arrange a school field trip with some of my Grade 6 girls. They helped feed the animals and even took part in a dog walk in Duryu Park! It was an incredible and memorable learning experience. Animals can also be social and emotional teachers in many ways!
