I’m Maria Fekaris, an instructional designer and educator passionate about creating data-informed, engaging learning experiences. I recently earned my M.S. in Learning, Design and Technology from the University of Kentucky, building on a foundation in Elementary Education and several years of classroom teaching in grades K through 5.
Early in my teaching career, I became deeply interested in the why and how behind effective instruction, especially lesson design, research-based strategies, and the role of data in driving learning decisions. That curiosity led me to pursue graduate studies and transition into instructional leadership.
Currently, I serve as a Math Instructional Coach, supporting teachers with curriculum alignment, instructional planning, and data-driven teaching practices. I also work part-time as a Learning Systems Content Developer for the University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute, where I design accessible online professional learning for educators.
Whether I’m coaching in classrooms or developing digital learning tools, my focus remains the same: designing purposeful, accessible, and high-impact learning experiences that make a real difference. Outside of work, I enjoy life in St. Petersburg with my Aussie-doodle, Ozzy, who brings a lot of joy to my life. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, reading, and exploring new ways to learn and grow.
