TACTICAL URBANISM
Rethingking strategies using short-term, low cost, and scalable interventions to catalyze long-term change. As the future liners which hold the responsibilities to shape our future cities directions, we have to continuously ask various questions to challenge the norm and to rethink for the sake of a better cities. A recent year has shown a significant change in dealing at the individual level and societal level. The era of a pandemic has shown big unpreparedness in managing the spaces. The phenomena of social distance and confinement have become difficult in these times.
The vacant lands, unorganized storefronts, highway underpasses, parking spaces, and other unutilized spaces, remain highly evident. Tactical urbanism let individuals or government officials use this as experimentation, which often led to innovative creations. The use of tactical urbanism has the potential to inspire progress inplace-making. It allows public participation who are the end-users.
COMPACT CITY
The “compact city” is emerging as the central paradigm of urbanism given its massive potential to respond to the challenges of Sustainable Development.
Compactness, density, mixed land use, sustainable transportation and green space are the core strategies of the compact city for achieving the goals of sustainability.
