Capsule inBangsar
Creative Industry Business Incubator
For decades, Jalan Riong in Bangsar had been known as one of the biggest media and printing centers of the Klang Valley in the 1960s to 1980s, but as new technologies emerged, it began to decline and now faces the problem of a dying industry. As incumbents fight to adapt to the modern world, traditional creative industries gradually fade away. Over the years, the older-styled printing factory became technologically obsolete. As a residential neighborhood devoid of interesting places of labor, Bangsar has become a bland district. The introduction of a new modern culture into Bangsar communities causes significant changes to occur in a variety of local identities. It poses a problem for the established identity of Bangsar, as well as for the local cultures. True culture is alive, true culture grows, and it evolves. Designing buildings that reflect community identities can foster a richer, broader, and deeper sense of community. Creating an identity generates enough value that the building can stand on its own and a sense of belonging in oneself.
