N,N-Dimethyltryptamine (DMT or N,N-DMT) is a tryptamine molecule which occurs in many plants and animals. It can be consumed as a powerful psychedelic drug and has historically been prepared by various cultures for ritual purposes as an entheogen. Rick Strassman labeled it "the spirit molecule". In most countries, DMT is illegal.
DMT has a rapid onset, intense effects and a relatively short duration of action. For those reasons, DMT was known as the "businessman's trip" during the 1960s in the United States, as a user could access the full depth of a psychedelic experience in considerably less time than with other substances such as LSD or magic mushrooms. DMT can be inhaled, injected, vaporized or ingested, and its effects depend on the dose. When inhaled or injected, the effects last a short period of time: about 5 to 15 minutes. Effects can last 3 hours or more when orally ingested along with an MAOI, such as the ayahuasca brew of many native Amazonian tribes. DMT can produce vivid "projections" of mystical experiences involving euphoria and dynamic hallucinations of geometric forms.
DMT is a structural analog of serotonin and melatonin and a functional analog of other psychedelic tryptamines such as 4-AcO-DMT, 5-MeO-DMT, 5-HO-DMT, psilocybin (4-PO-DMT), and psilocin (4-HO-DMT).

1. Inside Out:
Geometric overlays over the external world. The focus of consciousness shifts out of the mundane surfaces of external world and the body into an open space that can feel like a breakthrough. Let's call this a Level 1 Breakthrough. There can be geometry, pixels and movement.
2. Close Encounters:
A moderate dose can push consciousness into closer realms where there can be contact with some primitive entities and visions of machines.
3. Transport:
Then there is the formation of the chrysanthemum, the tunnel and the emergence into the vaulted dome and sometimes encounters with shapeshifting entities.
4. The Multiverse:
Level 2 Breakthrough. Entering Domes, Eternal Cities, Enfolding hyper geometric surfaces and entities, the Arcades, the Catacombs. (It might be possible to find a topography but that will take a lot more more research.)
5. The White Light:
The source of being, the dharmakaya, ain soph aur, much like 5MEO.
6. The Return:
Drifting down and reintegration with embodied self and external world
Level I: Pre-Hallucinatory experience
This stage is characterized by an interior flowing of energy/consciousness. It may be extremely intense. It may have a positive feeling content.
Level II: Vivid, brilliantly colored, geometric visual hallucinations
Here one is observing a patterned field, basically two dimensional, although it may have a pulsating quality. One may remember having seen this before.
Transitional Phase (Level IIB?): tunnel or breakthrough experience
One may see or fly through a tunnel (a passage to the next level). A veil may part, a membrane may be rent. There is a breakthrough to another world (or perhaps even a series of breakthroughs).
Alternatively, it may also happen that the transition from Level II to Level III is abrupt, almost instantaneous, with no experience of transition.
Level III: Three- or higher-dimensional space, possible contact with entities.
