The SSC is a Greater Boston subregion of thirteen (13) communities:
Braintree, Cohasset, Duxbury, Hanover, Hingham, Holbrook, Hull, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, Rockland, Scituate, and Weymouth
Fun Fact: SSC uniquely includes two of the State’s major barrier beach systems (Hull Nantasket and Marshfield-Duxbury), which help shield the entire subregion by reducing storm surge and protecting the inland river systems that connect all 13 SSC communities.

SWAP and SSC Joint Transportation Challenges Meeting
Spring 2025 | Virtual (Zoom)
The South Shore Coalition (SSC) and SouthWest Advisory Planning Committee (SWAP) hosted a joint meeting to discuss shared priorities and challenges around transportation. Staff from the Boston Region MPO joined, and the discussion was facilitated by MAPC Director of Transportation, Eric Bourassa.
The discussion focused on process and coordination challenges, time and capacity barriers, resource constraints, communication gaps, and opportunities for collaboration moving forward.
Some ideas for moving forward included developing educational materials and/or trainings to better equip municipalities to apply for funding opportunities, replicate coordination strategies used in other MassDOT districts and pilot new channels of communication between the various key players in the application and/or project coordination process.
