Provide- make available for use; supply, make adequate preparation for
Sustain-strengthen or support physically or mentally
Do we doubt or forget God's power to sustain us or provide for us? Why might someone do that?
He sustains us, and helps us in our daily walk with him. He provides for all of our needs.
Psa 54:4 Behold, God is mine helper: the Lord is with them that uphold my soul.
Php 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Psa_55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
He gives us what we need to keep going in life. He will never leave us with less than enough. In fact, we are given above and beyond what we deserve. Think about some of the things he has blessed you with, or a way he has provided.
Neh_9:21 Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not.
Isa 58:10-11 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: 11 And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
Eph 3:16-20 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
Psa 23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Php 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
He wants us to ask him to provide. He wants us to be aware of his position in our lives.
We have no reason to be anxious. God promises to take care of us and our needs. Mat 6:25 -34
Why do you think we have anxiety? Or the feeling like things won't turn out when we know God has the power to provide?
We do not have to rely on our own abilities and income to provide for our needs. God will provide all we need when we are seeking him and doing his will.
Mat_10:9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
2Co 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
We need to provide for the needs of others as well. God wants to use us to further his kingdom and serve those around us.
1Ti_5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
Acts 3:44-45 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, 35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
Are we being intentional is how we strive to help others?
