The Hebrew word that translates into "heareth" means to listen intelligently often associated with attention or obedience.
When we say someone is a good listener, what do we mean?
How can we then look at God as our listener?
He isn't going to interrupt us and force us to listen to him. He leaves that choice up to us.
God hears us when we cry, and when we pray!
Psa 34:17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
Psa 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

How can we take solace in that?
He brings us peace.

Job 34:29a When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble?
I think we are often quick to jump in with what we believe to be right, when we may not have heard the whole context, but that is never a problem with God. He knows the context and how best to answer us before we even ask.
Pro_18:13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
Now knowing God hears us, how do we take that for granted?

When we complain, God hears that, and I'm sure is like take off your blinders and see what I'm trying to tell you. See all the good I have for you, you just have to come receive it!
God listens to us, and we should also be listening to him.
1Sa_3:10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.
We need to have that kind of attitude and listen to what God has to say to us.
Ecc_5:1a Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear...
Mar_4:23 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.

Because God listens to everything we think and say, we should also be guarding our thoughts and what comes out of our mouth.
Pro 18:7 A fool's mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
What does God want to come out of our mouth? To him? To others? What doesn't he want to hear?
Glorify and praise him!

Eph_4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
He hears us because he knows us!

Psa 139:24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
