In this project, me and my partner chose a country that's not the US to compare and contrast, and we explored the digital divides between those countries. I chose Norway, and my partner chose Greenland. An interesting fact I learned about Norway is that it's on its way to be 100% cashless. I found that interesting because I know most countries have digital pay and digital identities, but we also still have physical cash as well. I'm surprised Norway took it to that extent. as for Greenland, I'm surprised that there are only 55,670 people populated there in contrast to Norway, which is 5.7 million. I was also surprised on how they used their freezing weather to collaborate with technology.
Doing this project made me realize how much I take internet access for granted. It was interesting to see how Norway is almost 100% cashless, and then realizing that if you're not tech-savvy there, you get locked out of healthcare and banking. It made me think about how progress and advances can leave people behind if it moves too fast. On the flip side, Greenland is using its freezing weather to power AI data centers which is a smart way to see tech adapting to the environment. For the collab part, my partner and I stayed on track by using shared one drives and quick emails to make sure our research and information lined up for the comparison slides. I learned that being clear on who's doing what makes things less stressful and an organized report.
