Chinese family member names are more detailed than in English.

We will start by learning the father’s side, such as grandma (奶奶), and then the mother’s side, such as grandma (外婆).
In China, family titles also differ by region.

In the south, mother’s parents are called waipo (外婆) and waigong (外公).

In the north, they are called laolao (姥姥) and laoye (姥爷).
