A DAY IN THE LIFE OF ...

Here are the three videos with the theater devised by the students, trying to imagine 'a day in the life of...' another person, as well as a debate on multiculturalism.

The students have done empathy work, trying to imagine what life would be like for a person coming from another part of the world, and what unfair and prejudiced situations they should face in their day to day. We must all learn to treat all human beings in a fair way, without establishing differences based on their money, clothing, social position, race or religion.

English-speaking countries in the world

Our GES 1 students have produced a poster about English-speaking countries in the world. These include: Scotland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, the United States, India and the Bermuda Islands.

In order to carry out this work, the students have searched for and selected information about:

- The flag and coat of arms.

- Their location on the map.

- The most important regions and cities.

- Geography: The most important mountains, rivers and lakes.

- Nature: National Parks, flora and fauna.

- Culture and tradition: Gastronomy, art, festivals...

For our students, the project has been motivating and interesting. It has also been an opportunity to get to know these countries better, learning new vocabulary in English through the use of new technologies.

I want to introduce you to the podcast that the GES I students have made, both in the morning and in the afternoon, taking advantage of the proximity of the day of the scientific woman and the day of the woman.

They have carried out a research work with total freedom on women who have fought to change history and mark scientific advances.

Women who since ancient times fought against male supremacy without caring about anything more than what they believed in.

Our students also enlighten us about women today who work in many diverse fields. They investigate to continue leaving a mark and make our lives easier in all the fields of study to which they are dedicated.

I leave you a job where our students have had to face a microphone with the nerves that this entails, a podcast that in this case is linear where we pour information and we hope you find it interesting. We also hope to make a more dynamic program and above all that you like to listen to it as we do.

CONFERENCE ABOUT RACISM AT LLIRIA SCHOOL OF ADULTS  (by University Lecturer Carmen Manuel, as part of our European KA-204 project)

Yesterday, 3rd March 2022, we had the immense pleasure to welcome the University Lecturer Carmen Manuel. She gave us a talk about  slavery in the United States of America and helped us gain an insight into the struggles of ethnic minorities in their way to achieve freedom and equality. A lot of interesting books and movies were mentioned , such as Apocalypse Now, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Gone with the Wind, Amistad, etc.

The students of the Secondary School certificate had actually been studying the book ‘Peripecias en la vida de una joven esclava’ (Incidents in the life of a slave girl) and had the opportunity to ask her questions.

The talk led to questions and reflections on how much humanity has reached in the goal of equality and justice for all races and yet how much path is still left to do.

At Llíria Adult School, in the first level of the Secondary School Diploma, the study on Homer's Odyssey is already starting to have concrete results ...

LLIRIA,  OUR TOWN

This is a leaflet with information about our town, Llíria, in English. It is a creation of Reyes Caballer (our science and technology teacher) with her students of the secondary school certificate.

A GASTRONOMIC EVENTS TO CELEBRATE THE DIVERSITY OF CULTURES AND FOOD ALL OVER THE MEDITERRANEAN SEA AND BEYOND

Our students and teachers, coming from a variety of backgrounds, have brought something typical from their homeland. Thus we have been able to taste and enjoy food from Morrocco (including berber cuisine), France, Bolivia and different parts of Spain. These gastronomic events are part of our European KA-204 project in order to value and learn from different cultures. We have been dealing with the topic of racism in all the lessons for the past monts. The causes and consequences of inequality associated with procedence or skin colour have been debated. Our students, who are in contact with (or are themselves) people from different skin colours and origins, have completed questionnaires about whether they consider Europe and Spain as being racist We have also watched movies that deal with daily situation of racism in the past, such as 'To kill a mocking bird', the famous movie in which a black American citizen is falsely accused and senteced of rape. We have all agreed that the overall situation has improved a lot, even though there is still a long way to go. These are examples of the compositions that our students (from different classes and in different languages) have created. "
