What inspired us? What was the spark that set us off?
Our mission is to provide a platform of resources that share instruction, techniques, connections, and processes that support professors and students as they teach and learn the disciplines of industrial and product design in a remote environment.
The content on this site has been developed by professors and their graduates, both who practice the broad disciplines of Industrial or Product Design. We did this so that we could all find ways to teach more efficiently during the onset of the COVID pandemic (it was truly crazy to think we could redesign our curriculum in one week). We decided to leverage the global community in this endeavor.
Over time we realized that we were designing a new way of teaching foundational level 3D design and thus, connecting our students' learning to the industry much more closely. We have started with these videos, to help our students "make" (which means "think" in our world) @ home. The collection of links and videos are structured so that content and techniques can be viewed over time, so that the craft of 3D representation is not lost, and with busy lives, can be done in phases rather than all at once. Take time, get into the processes and techniques, and keep looking back here as the library is growing.
The future is unfolding as we work on this. We will, like our professional counterparts in industry, continue to teach in a hybridized mode and much of the 3D work will be done remotely. Keep looking here as we are also developing videos to help bridge the physical/digital divide for foundational design education. Join us on this adventure!
