There are many tools, but some are better than others. Less is more.
When setting up a workspace, the tools become a large part of the environment. Planning in advance is very helpful and can help to create a more creative space for thinking in 3D and making. Starting the process is challenging as all this stuff has always been provided on a college campus before. If access to those tools is limited it can be paralyzing. However, there are many resources out in the virtual world that can get you started! Here is an awesome list to get you started: Your Own Makerspace. Below you can see some of the basic tools, from the simple ones like a screwdriver or a vice, to more complicated ones like a dremel tool or mini-lathe. Start simple, add to the collection.
Below you can find some tool examples, a list of other bits to have around that always will be useful, a list of links to readymade kits, and a set of "how to" videos showing some cool prototyping and testing examples.
