Welcome back! Let’s build on what we learned about Human Rights by diving into the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). 🌟
Start by reflecting on this question: What do you think is the purpose of the UDHR? Write down your initial thoughts in your Process Log. This will help you compare your initial ideas with what you learn from the reading.
Read through this abbreviated version of the UDHR and choose one article based on the titles to read more about later. 📖 Short Version of UDHR
After reading the short version of the UDHR, compare your current understanding of its purpose with your initial thoughts. Has your perspective changed? Revise your answer if needed.
4. Now get into pairs! 🤝 You will work with a partner for the rest of the activities today.
5. Once you are in pairs, read the two articles from the UDHR that stood out to you. While you read, take note of the keywords in each article. Here's the link to the full UDHR: link
6. Continue growing your vocabulary by adding these new terms to your Vocabulary section in your PL. (Remember, even if you work in pairs, make sure to take notes of each step in both your Process Logs.)
7. After that, summarize the two articles you chose in your own words in 2-3 sentences using the new words you learned in this step.
8. Now you will share your summaries with the rest of the class in a collaborative Padlet. This will allow you to have a summary of the UDHR made by the whole class. 📜 Padlet Link
9. Let’s end today with a discussion in the format of Think-Pair-Share:
Think: Reflect on how the rights outlined in the UDHR are applied or could be applied in your community or country.
Pair: Discuss your reflections and summaries with a partner. Compare your answers and insights.
Share: Share your findings and revised thoughts with the class. Discuss how the UDHR’s purpose aligns with the articles you summarized.
