There is NO catty competition between the trainers as we help and support one another here at Ridgewood Farms! We fully understand that there are different goals, personalities, learning and teaching styles and are therefore completely open to a client going to another trainer if that is what the client or their horse needs to do in order to succeed! We embrace horsemanship and sharing knowledge in order to help horses and their people. If one of us doesn’t work out for you, we are open to you trying out another trainer!

Do It Yourself (DIY) Horse Training is an exceptional value for owners who have the time (at least two (2) or more days a week between our sessions) and ability to train their own horse under professional guidance. It also means that I will come to you, saving you time and money from having to haul your horse or from paying for board and training at a facility which could easily start at as much as $400 a month! You must provide all of your own equipment as well as a safe and adequate training and/or riding area. When I come to you, I will work with your horse first to determine what your horse already knows, what he needs to learn, how he learns and then I teach you what and how to work on a concept in the time between our sessions. Each following lesson starts with the owner demonstrating the skill that was practicing and if necessary, I will help correct any issues. If there are no issues, I work with the horse to determine the next steps, then teach you what to work on between sessions.
With this program, I'm also available for consultation via phone or facetime for troubleshooting if you have difficulties between our sessions. Not only is this a great value, but it allows horses and their owners to build a stronger bond! I might be able to gain your horse's trust and respect and do anything with them if I were to do all of the work... but if you haven't earned their trust and respect, you may not be able to obtain the same things!!! That's why this training is so valuable! I guide you as you build that trust, respect and relationship on your own.
DIY (Do It Yourself) Horse Training means that you will train your horse yourself with the guidance of a professional!
WARNING: The DIY Horse Training service is NOT recommended for Beginners or if you are training a horse that is deemed to be dangerous by the trainer/instructor!

Equine activities are inherently dangerous as horses are massive prey animals that will likely consider their own survival first when faced with a stressful situation. All involved with Equine activities, including spectators, will each be responsible for their own safety and hold harmless the farm, property owner, horse owners, horse handlers/riders, trainer/instructor, spectators, employees, contractors and any family or friendly relations of the same from actual or risk of injury and/or death to themselves, their guests or their horses.
On-Site means that you and your horse come to me at my farm.
Mobile means that I will travel to you and your horse within 45 minutes of the farm, or further for an additional fee.
Single Training Sessions may include a lesson at the time of service for an additional $10 per session. The lesson will be given during the second half of the training session.
Monthly Training Packages may include a lesson at the time of service for an additional $50 per monthly training fees. The lesson will be given once a week and count as a training session.
Each horse and rider are trained at their own pace and there are no guarantees on how quickly a horse or rider can be trained.
We specialize in Difficult & Dangerous horses as well as easy horses. All are trained using primarily Natural Horsemanship & Centered Riding Concepts.
Training & Lesson Sessions are up to One (1) Hour long, but may be shorter or longer according to and depending on the trainer's discretion regarding the horse's and/or rider's Physical Fitness/Attention Span/Stress Level , achievement of difficult concepts, or for safety/humane reasons.
Please be ready to work at the appointment time. If you are not ready at the appointment time, the time it takes to be ready to work will be deducted from the total training time at the same rate. This means that any time spent catching the horse, grooming, saddling, warming up or waiting for the rider to dress in helmet, gloves and boots will be deducted from the overall lesson time in order to keep training and lesson schedules on time.
If you are a beginner, then the lesson will include catching, grooming, saddling, warming up and cooling out. Beginners are still expected to be dressed appropriately in helmet, gloves and boots at the appointed lesson time.
All Monthly Service Fees due in advace of services which means they are prepaid and due on the 1st of the month for which services are to be rendered.
Per Appointment Services are due at the time of service.
Payments are made to MAES via Cash, Check or Intuit Mobile Card Reader.
