Farrier Specializing in Difficult and Dangerous Horses
I graduated from Mission Farrier School in Snohomish, WA on April 24th, 2015 under Mark Plumlee's Instruction. Since then, I have been working as a Farrier as well as apprenticed with a Barefoot Trimmer, Laura Rice of Soley Equine. I'm currently able to offer barefoot and corrective trims and shoeing. I am skilled at rehabilitating hooves with cracks, flares, White Line Disease and Laminitis (Founder). I'm constantly doing research, learning from clients, horses and other professionals regarding many different farrier and barefoot trimming methods. The primary influences behind my training are Gene Ovnicek of EDSS and Pete Ramey of Hoof Rehab.

Difficult Horse Handling/Training/Time Fee*...…….............................$ 80…….………...………$ 40
For an additional fee due to the added time it takes, I will work with difficult horses be they young, old, wild, abused, neglected or injured.
Basic Hoof/Lameness Evaluation………….................................................$ 40……………………....$ 20
Basic Evaluations will be performed on new horses or if I have not seen the horse in 2 months or more. Horses should be trimmed every 4 weeks in Spring/Summer and every 6-8 weeks in Fall/Winter to avoid any hoof distortions from growth/breakage. Otherwise, your horse will likely need a Therapeutic Trim or Thrush/WLD Treatment.
In Depth Hoof/Lameness Evaluation………...........…………………..…………$ 80……………………….$ 40
In Depth Evaluations are for horses with Chronic or Acute Lameness to determine the cause and develop a treatment plan accordingly. This may involve collaboration with or referral to a veterinarian, equine dentist, bodyworker or other equine professional.

Thrush is a very common bacterial infection of the hoof’s tissues. If left untreated, it can cause White Line Disease (WLD) which can creep inside the hoof from cracks or hoof breakage and result in rotting the hoof from the inside out. If you think of it like a cavity, the treatment is to use a Dremel tool to remove the rotted tissue, then pack the resulting cavity with Artimud which is an anti-bacterial hoof packing. It’s recommended that horses remain barefoot or wear only hoof boots when needed during treatment. For best results, it’s also recommended that horses receive following treatments every 2-4 weeks until it’s resolved.

*If your horse kicks, bites, rears, strikes, doesn’t tie or needs work on picking up their feet and standing quietly for the farrier, please tell me in advance so I can schedule your appointment accordingly to allow more time for a Difficult Horse/Training ($20 Difficult Horse/Training Flat Fee in addition to the $30 Trimming Fee). It may take a half hour or it may take several hours all depending on the horse's issues and I will take the time to help them but I need to know in advance for scheduling.
**Therapeutic Trimming & Shoeing are individually designed for each horse's needs and are designed specifically to attempt to improve the soundness of horses facing Navicular Disease, Laminitis/Founder, Hoof Reconstructions, Crack Repairs or any other therapeutic work. This work may require consultation with your Veterinarian but is often complicated and time consuming. Therefore, prices may be adjusted to reflect the components used and the time involved in preparing and applying those components.
Per Appointment Services are due at the time of service.
I'm also passionate about hoof care beginning with the horse's nutrition as this is a major factor in the quality of their hooves. Please see the following websites for more information:
If you need assistance in deciding what is best for your horse's needs, please consider consulting Summit Equine.
I am also a Horse Trainer and love working with and have had success working with difficult horses be they rescues, abused, neglected, young, old, wild or in pain. I’m good at finding the root cause for their behavior, be it pain, fear, lack of training or improper handling. Some horses do not actually have a training issue but rather a physical one and I have been taught to know the difference. If it's not a training issue I will let you know and I often adjust my body position to accommodate these horses in an effort to make them more comfortable. If you suspect your horse may be difficult to work with, please be sure to let me know when you call so I can schedule accordingly. I enjoy working with these horses through their issues, no matter how challenging, so they will learn to overcome issues with the Farrier.
Please contact me for an appointment! I am based out of York County, but I will also go to places outside this area for multiple horses or clients in the same area.
Payment is due to MAES by Cash or Check at the time of service and I request someone be available to handle each horse during the appointment.
I prefer contact by **TEXT ** so I can respond between appointments and also because my voicemail and Facebook Messenger do not always notify me of new messages.
Payment by cash or check is due at the time of service. A 35$ fee will be added if a check is given to me with Non-Sufficient Funds in your account.
