Unit Election Central
Overview
WHAT: The troop elections are the process where scouts will select those members of the unit that distinguish the qualities of doing our “National Honor Society” of Scouting. Troop will also have the opportunity to nominate adult participants that will be considered for selection at a council meeting. Those elected members will then be invited to induction weekends to participate in the ordeal and become one with our lodge.
WHEN: Units can sign up for a visitation at one of their weekly meetings. The unit leadership should contact the chapter adviser and chief to setup a time. Chapters can be contacted at their round tables or via email.
Elections must be performed between January 1, 2024 and April 30, 2024. An election should take around 30 minutes of a meeting.

Scheduling Aids

This script is a utility to make it easier and more efficient to conduct phone calls with unit leaders. Make sure that you follow youth protection guidelines, and that you are kind and respectful. You are not required to use this script, it is just an aid for people who might not know where to start.

Election Training
Turtle academy Training
Our lodge has created an interactive, online unit elections training that covers all of the fundamental concepts and allows you to complete it at your leisure. This training is hosted on our official training portal, Turtle Academy.
You can find this training here.
national Election training
The unit elections training is the nationally recommended training found in the Guide to Unit Elections. This training should be done at chapter meetings prior to an election. When the training is completed, make sure to contact the lodge with the names of those who have completed the training. One of the cons of this training is that it has not been revised since the release of the Inductions Module in Lodgemaster, so supplementing this training with the Lodgemaster Tutorial above for officers may be helpful.
You can find this training here.
Unit election training video
This training video is an overview of election procedures that can complement the national election training. This video was made prior to females, Venturers, and Sea Scouts being allowed in the OA and the Induction Module. Take care to note the difference in the rank requirement between the programs, and use the Lodgemaster Tutorial to supplement for chapter officers.
Unit election Training Submission Form
When an election is completed in the lodge, submitting this form allows us to track certified election team members for chapters needing staff.
