Madockawanda Eagle Service Program

What IS MESP?

The Madockawanda Eagle Service Program (MESP) is a special project sponsored by Madockawanda Lodge. The goal of MESP is to support aspiring Eagle Scouts by introducing a communication framework to promote their service projects to Arrowmen in their local area.

By filling out the below Google form and providing necessary information, Madockawanda Lodge will reach out to promote any Eagle service project workday put on by a youth in Pine Tree Council. This system unfortunately can not be used to request donations for Eagle Projects, just labor. Moreover, the use of this form does not guarantee that OA members will be available to assist with the project. To maximize the likelihood of Arrowmen being available, you should fill out this form as early as possible.

This program is not restricted to OA members. Any Life Scout in Pine Tree Council planning an Eagle Scout service project can take advantage of this program.

WHAT DO I DO?

If you are a Life Scout in Pine Tree Council actively planning an Eagle Scout service project, do the following:

  1. Have an approved project proposal and schedule a workday for your Eagle Scout service project. This form is only to promote workdays, not fundraisers or the project in general.

  2. Fill out the Google form to the best of your ability. Your responses will be used to help generate an email to promote the workday.

  3. Keep an eye on your email's inbox in the 7-10 days after filling out the form. Any interested OA member will reach out to you to get additional information and share their interest in the project. We will make our best effort to email within 2-4 days of receiving the form.

ADDitional resources

Below are some extra resources compiled by the lodge to assist in ideas, planning, and execution for your Eagle Scout service project. We are not responsible for the maintenance of these materials. Good luck!

Service Project Workbook- This workbook, shown on the BSA website, is the official workbook for the Eagle Scout service project.

Scout Life Project Resources- This page is a database containing the project workbook, project ideas, and some additional readings on the procedures and policies of the process.

Eagle Project Idea Generator- The NESA creates and maintains this resource to help generate ideas for possible projects.

If you have another great resource, email us at purplelodge271@gmail.com to tell us about it!

MESP FREquently Asked Questions

  • How and when do I know that my email has been sent?

    • The email will be sent within 2-4 days of receiving the form. The Google form will directly notify the administrator when you hit the submit button and the administrator will review and send the email through our mass-email platform. You will be included in the email.

  • How do you determine who the project promotion is sent to?

    • The email sent to OA members will be sent to members of units in proximity to the project site. Madockawanda Lodge has developed internal resources to determine units in proximity (typically within a 15-minute drive) of the community your project site is in. This will be different based on the community. For example, a project in Jackman, Maine will not be advertised to troops in York, Maine but may be advertised to troops in Skowhegan, Maine.

  • I am in need of financial assistance and/or material donations for my Eagle Scout project. Is there any way you can help?

    • Unfortunately, we are unable to assist Life Scouts in this manner. It is the goal of the Eagle Scout project for the scout to plan and develop this project themselves, and we feel that giving financial and material assistance to projects undermines this goal. We encourage you to use other resources in your unit and the project workbook to succeed in that portion of the project.

  • I am in need of tools for my Eagle Scout project. Is there any way you can help?

    • If you would like to request participants bring tools or other supplies, like work gloves, please indicate that on the Google form.

  • How will you use and store my information?

    • Your information will be included in an email to OA members in the local area of your project site. It will not be distributed outside of Madockawanda Lodge members.

  • Who can I contact with any other questions?
