Master of Arts (M.A.) Programme in Applied Economics

The Master of Arts in Applied Economics (MAAE) is an intensive, on-site graduate program that provides a strong foundation in economic theory, quantitative methods, and applied data analysis. The program focuses on real-world applications of economics, preparing students to analyze policy issues, economic trends, and data-driven problems in both public and private sectors.

Under the revised 2026 curriculum, the MAAE offers a flexible and customizable study path. Students can choose core courses from two subject areas—International Economics and Finance and Human Capital Development, including health, labour, and family economics. Students may concentrate in one area or combine courses across both to best match their academic interests and career goals.

The MAAE emphasizes the application of economic reasoning and analytical skills to practical problems. Courses are taught by experienced faculty with academic and professional expertise in international economics and finance, labour economics, and health economics. Through a balanced combination of theory and applied training, the programme equips graduates with strong analytical and critical thinking skills relevant to careers in policy analysis, research, and data-driven roles in both the public and private sectors.
