Programme Overview

The Master of Arts in Applied Economics Programme (MAAE) aims to provide students with a solid foundation in economic theory, a comprehensive toolkit for statistical analysis, and a practical understanding of how economics is applied in the real world. The programme caters particularly to those who wish to develop data analysis skills and acquire a fuller grasp of economic problems and issues. The programme emphasizes the development of data analysis and policy evaluation skills that are in demand in today’s labour market, particularly in business, healthcare, and the public sector.

The MAAE is an international programme taught entirely in English by Chulalongkorn University faculty, experts in the industry, and scholars from renowned universities in Thailand and abroad. It is a full-time daytime programme that runs on a trimester schedule.

Why The MAAE?

The MAAE offer students a chance to graspe a solid foundation in economic theory, a comprehensive toolkit for statistical analysis, and a practical understanding of how economics is applied in the real world. Students can choose one of three tracks offered by MAAE programme:

** It should be noted that, in certain years, the number of students choosing the Health Economics and/or the Labour Economics tracks may be less than 5, in which case the two tracks will be combined and students in these two tracks will study both Health Economics and Labour Economics, specializing in Applied Microeconomics.

The MAAE aims to teach students how to apply their core economic foundation, analytical skills, and focused knowledge in their chosen study track to explore real-world economic problems. Classes will be taught by experienced staff with international experience in the field of finance and international economics; health care management; or labour economics. This programme will boost student's analytical and critical thinking abilities that combines academic theory with crucial employability skills to help them achieve their career goals.
