Time Trials 2025

Can we improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our regatta progression systems?

Hopefully the experiment to replace some heats with time trials at the 2025 Karapiro Christmas Regatta will lead to their introduction at the Maadi Regatta.

Time trials are preferred in our FISA Maadi Regatta '26 proposal to NZSSRA in July 2025. It is proven that a time trial heat can be completed in half the time it takes to run eight lane heats. Crews can go directly from Time Trials to further rounds of competition without the need for time sapping repechage heats.

The 2010, 2014 and 2024 presentations below discuss various aspects of Time Trials.
