The Early Days

My first radio set purchased in the early 70's for £5.00 was a Wireless set No. 38 a 1940 mobile radio operating on 7 to 8 MCs. Still packaged in its original bitumen wrapping it was in mint condition as it had never been unwrapped and used. Came complete with a tank mount and copper whip aerial.

I later acquired a VHF back pack wireless set which unfortunately I cannot remember the full details but marriage and a new house purchase meant money was in demand so much of my army wireless gear had to go.
