EDLD 604:
Applied Research in Practice: Using Data for Decision Making, Educational Planning and School Improvement
Summer 2021
Summer 2021
This course is a researched based study on a topic of my choosing. Since I began this course in the summer of 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic had been dominating the learning environment for approximately 15 months. Given the pandemic, my students were either isolated at home, or in a cohort with the same ten to fifteen students for over six hours a day. As the year progressed, it was evident that each cohort was longing for interaction with their peers outside their cohort, and were struggling interpersonally with their cohort-mates. Therefore, I began incorporating brain breaks and Do Nows that were not content based. Getting to learn new things about their cohort members, in combination with moving around the room, led to more participation in class and positive discussions.
