I am finishing my first year at Purdue University as a Computer Science major student. Since almost half of my graduation-required credits were transferred from Advanced Placement, I have a junior classification and will have a senior classification after 2023 Spring.
I am also interested in double majors in the future 3 years. When I first learned to program, I knew that the aesthetic of coding has been an indispensable part of my life. In high school, I became the first girl member of our school computer society club.
I was fascinated by building solutions using different structures that I had learned programming as a tool. I wished more girls could have the chance to get interested in programming, so I requested and founded the "Girls Who Code" club in my high school. Based on my influences, more girls planned to explore the road of technology and engineering in the future. Here at Purdue, I am going to maintain my ambition of learning, and try to meet more females who have similar targets and motivations on study.
While keeping the pursuit of my study, I also spend my spare time as a writer. Writing books has been my goal since childhood, and one fantasy novel's outline I am working on had already over 20k words in Chinese.
A Business
Start Up
I have noticed that fantasy novels typically feature new-world settings. Despite trying various writing and organizing tools, I still found myself feeling inconvenienced. As the story grows in length, I may easily forget the initial settings or foreshadowing. Moreover, I may come up with new ideas during the writing process, which can be challenging to edit or integrate with the previous work.
All of these factors can contribute to losing readers' attention and become critical obstacles, especially for beginners.
Therefore, I came up with the idea for a saga.
In the HackDartmouth event, I was honored to be in a team that won three prizes with this project at the end! One of the three prizes is one of the best prizes in this event -- Contrary Capital sponsored prize! According to the official description, Contrary Capital is a venture fund that identifies the world's top early-career engineers, designers, and product minds, connects them with a close-knit, career-long support community, and invests in companies they start or join. The start-up kit helps me with my business start-up and the continuation of this project!
In the short future, I hope this project let writing more approachable and accessible for everyone!
