It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Retired OCFA Firefighter Gary Kuhl. Our deepest condolances go out to the Kuhl Family. To his wife Becky, his 14 year old twins Gavin and Sierra, and his eldest son, our very own OCFA Firefighter Steven Kuhl, we are here for you in your time of need.
Gary retired in July of 2014, with his last assignment at Fire Station 31, B Shift. Firefighter Kuhl passed away from Lyme disease, that he contracted during a vegetation fire he was fighting, that left him wheelchair bound.
He was so proud to be an OCFA Firefighter, that he would wear his Local 3631 shirts and hats off duty, even up to the last day Steven saw his dad.
Firefighter Kuhl was known for his compassion and big heart. He created fundraising shirts for the FDNY 9/11 Burn Patients, Breast Cancer Awareness, his children’s schools, his church and several fire station’s just to name a few.
Gary, you will be missed by all of us...and all of us will be here for your family always...Rest in Peace Brother Kuhl.
