What is I-O Psychology?

I-O psychology is a dynamic and growing field that addresses individual, group, team, and organizational workplace issues. I-O psychologists apply research that improves the well-being and performance of people and the organizations that employ them. This involves everything from workforce planning, employee selection, and leader development to studying job attitudes and job motivation, implementing work teams, improving diversity and inclusion, and facilitating organizational change.

Where do the four competencies come from?

The UTC I-O graduate program has identified four significant areas of competence. These four were selected from a list of 26 competencies outlined in the SIOP (2016) Guidelines for Graduate Education. The program aggregated and reduced the list to identify the four most crucial competencies.  Each page describes the competency and provides evidence of my mastery of them.
