Invitationals and Tournaments are opportunities to play matches against players from other Resorts.
Invitationals are played with at least one other Club, hosted by either the LWTC or by the other Club we are scheduled to play.
Information about upcoming tournaments and invitationals is sent to the Club members via email approximately four weeks prior to the event.
For invitationals, one may sign up to play a maximum of three matches in Men’s, Ladies, and/or Mixed doubles – in any combination. The play schedule (time, court, and players for each match) is usually posted the Wednesday before the tourney date. The matches normally are limited to one hour and may be a “Pro 8” format, in which the first team to win eight games wins the match. There is no charge for playing, but you must be a FULL member to play. Selected food and beverages are available for breakfast and lunch. The host Club provides the match tennis balls, food, and beverage items. For LW hosted tournaments the LW playing members are requested to bring luncheon food items or pay a lunch fee. LW player guests may also sign up prior to the tournament and pay a lunch fee
Tournaments are a competitive event with many players from various parks entered to determine an eventual winner. For example, Venture Out hosts a tournament in late October, Sunland Village East hosts a 3-day Holiday Tournament in December, and there are multiple tournaments held by Clubs in March. Some of the tournaments have mixed doubles brackets in addition to men's and women's brackets. The LWTC holds two tournaments:
The LWTC Veterans Classic Tournament including players outside of LW (November)
The process for signing up for an Invitational and LW tournament:
Send an email to the LW Tournament/Invitational Director for the specific event stating your interest, rating and partner's name and rating. If you have any special requests, include them in the email.
On an envelope write:
The name of the event
The names of both players
The amount of money being put inside the envelope
The Club Rating of each player
Put Cash or Check (drawn on a U.S. bank) inside the envelope for both players, and seal it.
Put the envelope in the Drop Box next to the east kitchen door at the main tennis complex.
