Tennis Academy
The Leisure World Tennis Academy is a wonderful weekly opportunity to learn to play tennis, improve your tennis skills and have FUN! Any Leisure World resident is welcome to attend. Club membership is not a requirement. If you’ve ever wanted to learn to play, this is the right place for you!
This year’s academy will include not only beginning players but also upper level players in the 2.5-3.5 category. Beginners will learn the basic tennis skills, rules of the game, tennis etiquette, and simple doubles strategy. Upper level players will learn advanced skills, enhanced doubles strategy, and work towards consistency of play.
The Academy is directed by Marge Willadsen who is a certified PTR instructor in Adult Development. She has recruited a highly qualified staff of experienced players, who volunteer their time and talent, to teach others in a friendly atmosphere where optimum learning, fun, exercise, and meeting new friends are the primary goals.
The best part, the academy is absolutely free, that's right 100% free. No hidden fees. Loaner rackets are available if needed. Sessions are held every Wednesday, starting the first week of Nov., and ending the first week of March. Time: 1 - 3 PM. Meet at the LW Tennis Complex.
Please wear comfortable clothing, shoes suitable for tennis, and bring your water bottle to keep hydrated.
The academy invites you to come out and join us at any time during the season. Bring a spouse, a friend or someone else and give it a try.
In addition to Marge, the following core of experienced instructors will teach and encourage you every step of the way. Additional instructors may join us thru the season.
