February 2025: A woolen scarf in the Roman style for Magister Bran's elevation to the Order of the Laurel. Bran's persona is a Roman-era Brit. Bran's research into the era indicated that the British of the Roman era would wear wollen scarfs with tassels in a variety of patterns including checks. I designed his scarf using slightly varied checks. Bran's colors are mostly grays and blacks, but in collaboration with him, we added the orange as a zinger.
Woven in tabby weave using Harrisville Shetland for the warp and the weave.
June 2023: A mohair shawl as a gift for Ollam Lanea's admittance to the Order of the Pelican. Plain weave with Harrisville Shetland for the warp and mohair for the weft. The mohair is spectacular with gradients of evergreen and pine and hints of a deep blackish-purple. Unfortunately, the pictures fail to really capture the depth of this spectacular yarn.
Winter 2023: Ten tea towels, each one a different color pattern using the same five colors. They are done with boucle cotton in plain weave.
At 31 feet, it was my longest warp yet. I had worried about not getting the tension right, but after some initial adjusting, it was quite smooth.
Completed this blue and white shawl in September 2022 as part of the Shire's largess donations to the new Crown. It is plain weave in blue and white cotton.
Trial scarf with my new loom in February 2022. Made with cottolin.
In June 2021, With the careful and patient instruction of Mistress Ysabeau, I made a wool sample scarf. She was lovely in every way and helped convince me I was ready for a big girl loom (aka a floor loom). Kitteh not included.
Some narrow band weaves. My first weaving experience was at Revenge of the Stitch in April 2019 (see below). To the left, weaving during the competition. Below, a practice piece in advance of the competition. Essentially, the first thing I have ever woven. Done in silk thread.
