The school nativity was never quite Luca's thing, but he first enjoyed being on stage with Crediton Youth Theatre. Every February half-term the group met to put on a play in week. Luca attended weekly classes and the half-term intensives from 2009 to 2016 under the direction and mentorship of Jez Taylor.
Whilst attending Queen Elizabeth's Academy Luca participated in the annual school musical directed by Vicky Evans. His first role, Rapunzel's Prince in Into the Woods allowed him to flex his comedy muscles. The following year he was cast as Bernardo in West Side Story, this was this first experience dancing (and dying) on stage and ever since he has been pursuing a creative career in dance. Luca's final show with QE's Theatre Academy was Titanic The Musical in which he played the stoker Frederick Barrett, German millionaire Isidor Straus and dancer Mr. DaMico.
After completing his A-level studies in 2018 Luca took a gap year to find more performance opportunities. In this year he performed with Crediton Operatic and Dramatics Society in their production of Carousel as a the circus ringmaster and chorus dancer. This year out from formal education allowed him to work for The Common Players, Theater Mittendrin and Freies Theater Fulda on their cross-cultural WWI centenary project Echoes of Wartime. Luca began as their stage manager but quickly forged a role as choreographer and actor within the team. The opportunity took Luca to Fulda, Germany for the first time and he has been going back to work with Theater Mittendrin and Freies Theater Fulda regularly ever since.
Since becoming a dancer Luca has found that he much prefers learning choreography over lines, but should the opportunity present itself he is never afraid to pick up a script book. His theatrical background has greatly informed his approach to dance and choreography allowing him craft and perform characterful, impactful pieces.
