Networking is one of the most emphasized skills preached by the leadership program. The Family Initiative seeks to take the fear and awkwardness out of our students' first networking experiences, by connecting them with the families of our students. This provides experiential learning opportunities, as students can work on improving their networking habits knowing that they are surrounded by their Leadership family. This initiative also serves as an expansion of the leadership network, as parents are not only able to network with students, but with each other as well. Professional relationships are increasingly important, but personal connection trumps all and the Family Initiative is our way of combining the two. We do this by bringing in guest speakers, hosting a large networking event over Parent’s Weekend, and a reception to bring our families together before a Seton Hall basketball game.
