Advanced Driver 

Overview

This is offered to Response constables who have been approved by Response Command. Submitting the form will put your name forward for the next session held by Roads Policing driver trainers. Advanced Drivers will be trained to operate high-performance vehicles and conduct tactical interventions during pursuits. This includes taking control in the tactical phase and bringing pursuits to a safe and controlled conclusion. 

Requirements

• Hold a valid Response/IPP driving standard

• Demonstrate competent and safe driving ability

• Good radio communication and situational awareness

• Supervisor approval / selection

• Be taser trained

• Pursuit phases (IPP → Tactical Phase)

• TPAC (Tactical Pursuit and Containment)

• Tactical Contact (TC)

• Stinger deployment & pre-emptive tactics

• Pursuit roles (Primary, Secondary, Command)

• Use of radio and structured commentary
