SPECIALIZED UNITS & CERTIFICATIONS
All Law Enforcement Officers will be eligible to be a part of a Specialized Unit.
Certifications will be made available to all Law Enforcement personnel who meet the requirements. Should you qualify, you can obtain a certification in your area of expertise.
DIVISIONS
IA (Internal Affairs)
Requirements:
Must hold the rank of “Lieutenant”.
Approved by High Command.
Must be in good standing within the department.
There must be no active disciplinary actions (which can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Must be active, well-mannered, and showcase professionalism on patrol and during investigations.
Must be Approved by the Commissioner's Office.
DETECTIVES
Requirements:
The rank of “Sr. Officer or higher”.
Approved by Command Staff.
Must be in good standing within the department.
Willingness to conduct RP for longer periods.
There must be no active disciplinary actions (which can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Expected to remain behind to collect evidence and interview hostages at active crime scenes.
Must be active, well-mannered, and showcase professionalism during patrols and investigations.
Must pass Detectives Exam.
SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics)
Requirements:
The rank of “Sr. Officer or higher”
Approved by Command Staff.
Must be in good standing within the department.
There must be no active disciplinary actions (which can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Must Pass Physical Fitness Requirements (Minimum of 75% in Stamina and 50% in Strength).
Must be active, well-mannered, and showcase professionalism while on patrol and during active SWAT-related calls.
Must pass CNT Exam.
K9
Requirements:
The rank of “Sr. Officer or higher”
Approved by Command Staff.
Must be in good standing within the department.
There must be no active disciplinary actions (which can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Must Pass Physical Fitness Requirements (Minimum of 75% in Stamina and 50% in Strength).
Must be able to successfully pass the K9 Certification course.
Must be active, well-mannered, and showcase professionalism while on patrol.
Certifications
F.T.O. (Field Training Officer)
Requirements:
Sponsorship from Lead FTO.
Must be in good standing within the department.
There must be no active disciplinary actions (which can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Must Pass Physical Fitness Requirements (Minimum of 75% in Stamina and 50% in Strength).
Must be active, well-mannered, and showcase professionalism while on patrol.
HEAT (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic)
Requirements:
Must be in good standing within the department.
There must be no active disciplinary actions (which can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Must be active, well-mannered, and showcase professionalism while on patrol.
Must pass HEAT Exam.
HEAT is one of the core functions of traffic/speed enforcement. HEAT Unit operations utilize specialized patrol vehicles and detection equipment to address these traffic concerns. These teams are directed to areas experiencing high crash rates, excessive reckless complaints, and complaints of general violations.
If available, at least one HEAT Unit will participate in a pursuit. Whether they have to catch up or not. The HEAT Unit does NOT have to be primary but can assume the role if the marked unit is failing to keep up with the pursued vehicle.
HEAT Units must have a passion and a high amount of respect for all traffic/speed enforcement situations and safety for the well-being of the public.
All HEAT Units are held at a superior level to standard officers and are expected to maintain that level at all times. Officers failing to uphold the unit's standards will receive disciplinary action and/or removal of HEAT certification.
Reckless driving or any action regarded as a misrepresentation of HEAT will not be tolerated on any level.
AIR-1
Requirements:
Must receive from supervisor/command.
Must be in good standing within the department.
There must be no active disciplinary actions (which can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
Must be active, well-mannered, and showcase professionalism while on patrol.
Crisis Negotiation Techniques (CNT)
Requirements:
Must pass Crisis Negotiation Techniques (CNT) Exam.
