Principles of Detective Division

Job Description
San Andreas Detectives are plainclothes officers who gather facts and collect evidence related to criminal cases, and/or possible crimes. They conduct interviews, interrogations, examine records, monitor suspects, and participate in raids and arrests. Detectives typically investigate serious crimes, such as assaults, robberies, and homicides; however, they are not limited to this. They are typically assigned cases on a highest priority basis and work on them until an arrest is made. They work hand in hand with other departments including GIU, SWAT, and Narcotics to build large cases against an individual, or a group of people. Some additional duties of a Detective are as follows:
- Respond to emergency, and non emergency calls.
- Patrol assigned areas, observing people and activities.
- Search MDT for vehicle or other records and warrants.
- Obtain and serve warrants for arrests, searches, and other purposes.
- Arrest people suspected of committing crimes.
- Collect and secure evidence from crime scenes.
- Observe the activities of suspects.
- Write detailed reports and fill out forms.
- Prepare cases for legal proceedings
- Develop and cultivate Confidential Informants (CIs)
- When needed conduct undercover / surveillance operations
Expectations
A good Detective must be hardworking and trustworthy to ensure all evidence is handled properly throughout the case proceedings. They must also have good communication skills since they work with a team of investigators and share important information to ensure their case is built properly. They must employ deductive reasoning and analysis to make informed decisions and conclusions that lead to an arrest
Uniform Guidelines
Detectives shall wear professional / business dress clothes: "IE" Button up shirt, slacks, dress shoes, vest is optional, Glasses please keep them professional.
Vehicle Guidelines
Detectives vehicles are to drive any take-home sedan unit with the following extras:

Undercover/ Surveillance Procedures
While running an undercover and/or surveillance operation you must have a partner or back up unit. NEVER go undercover without backup. You must get an anklet put on to be tracked and must be off duty to make sure you are unable to do police tasks which may break your cover. You are to only carry non police identifiable equipment in case you are searched. You will need to carry a civilian radio and use a phone to communicate with your handler / partner. While doing undercover investigations use radio channel 1.2, unless you are working with another Division; in which case you will be instructed on which channel to use.
Interested Individuals
Interested individuals will participate in specialized training in a variety of investigative techniques and disciplines, including general and advanced criminal investigations; before being accepted into the Detective Division. Detective work can be physically demanding, stressful, and dangerous. Therefore, the interested candidate must demonstrate patience, critical thinking, problem solving skills, deductive reasoning, social perceptiveness, strong leadership skills, the ability to flawlessly multitask, professionalism, attention to detail, and being able to work well with others on a daily basis. You will work and train side by side with other Departments and Divisions within the state of San Andreas.
