Annular Solar Eclipse 2020

Solar eclipse is one of the nature’s astonishing events. One of its kind is Annular Solar Eclipse. This wonder happened on June 21, 2020 and was visible in Asia, Africa and few places in Europe. This event is a special one in India because, the next Annular solar eclipse will occur merely on 2031. Having lock down due to the pandemic, we decided to record this inevitable event and live broadcast it on You tube.

Before this event we conducted two webinar sessions on June 13, 2020 and June 20, 2020. The session which was conducted on June 13, 2020, completely focused on the special aspects and rarity of the event. It was presented by a renowned astrophotographer Mr. Vijay Vaidhyanathan. The second session was conducted on June 20. 2020, focused on the gadgets to view this event.

The broadcast for the event started at 10.30 A.M on June 21,.2020. Our club members namely, Mr. Infant Carmel Reju made a live broadcast from Chennai in our official You tube channel, whereas Mr.Ashwinth Jeffrey did it from Nagercoil in his own you tube channel. The video by LAC was watched by more than 1400 viewers on the day. The complete event was recorded and beautiful photographs was also captured. This event happened to be the second solar eclipse event to be on live broadcast by our club, having Annular Solar Eclipse 2019 as the first one. Eventually, we were ecstatic to make people aware about the myths of solar eclipse and to give them a chance to witness this spectacular event.
