Exploring letters and sounds

Start by exploring letters that are close to them, letters in their name or first letters of people close to them. Ex. M is for Mom. Use letters in their play and notice and name them in their environment. Try and keep it fun and engaging:)

How can use use different tools to keep them interested?

try...white boards, chalk boards, smelly markers...it's different it's fun:)

How can you Create your own game? write some letters or small words, choose some characters, roll a dice and play!

Put some magnetic letters in a bin, scoop it up with a crane, spoon or toy digger and see what letters and sounds you can find.

Bath time...add some bubbles..some letters and toys...a strainer and play search and rescue..

Does your child struggle with printing? Do they enjoy puzzles? All letters are made of a series of 3 different shapes: lines, curves and dots. Please refer to video for the template:)

What letters, numbers or pictures can you make with the wiki sticks?

Building sight words: choose words from the book, build and read the sights and use them to refer to while you read.

Building vocabulary: choose words from the book, sound them out by uncovering them and use them to help understand the text.

Can you paint a picture of your favourite part of the story and write about it?

Can we write the ingredients and recipe and do each step after we write it?

Can you put a book on display with the toys?
